Zel C. Khan
Chief Executive Officer, Corporate Secretary (Interim) and Director

Mr. Khan is the Chief Executive Officer, Interim Corporate Secretary and Director of Petrolia Energy. He brings more than 20 years experience in the domestic and international energy industry. Prior to accepting his current role, he co-founded and served as President/CEO of Jovian Petroleum Corporation, a private exploration and production company.

Mr. Khan has always been focused on the reduction of lift costs. While serving as Chief Operations Officer for Pyramid Petroleum Corporation, he successfully reduced operating costs by 20% with the use of new methods and technology and helped facilitate the tie-in of additional production to the former ConocoPhillips deep-water facility; generating tremendous value for the owners which included Chevron and Apache. After starting his career as an operator in California, he developed a solid reputation for ensuring responsible management of oilfield assets and maintains those same principals today. Mr. Khan served as President of Network Fueling Corporation, a Cardlock Fleet Fueling Solutions Company and held positions on several for-profit and not-for-profit boards.

Mr. Khan holds a B.S. in Economics and a Masters of Business Administration from Chapman University in California.

James E. Burns
President and Director

Mr. Burns is the President and Director of Petrolia Energy. He brings over 25 years of experience in the energy industry, with an extensive business background in international, multi-cultural environments. He is a Senior executive with year-after-year success achieving revenue, profit and business growth objectives within start-up, turnaround, and rapid-change environments. He has extensive experience with highly engineered systems which require deep understanding of critical business drivers in multiple markets and industries; highly successful in building relationships with all levels in a company (hourly employees to investors), seizing control of critical problem areas and delivering on customer commitments. Mr. Burns served as President of BLU LNG, a domestic LNG provider, President of Fortress Energy Partners, a division of Fortress Investment Group and has worked in various executive roles globally at Royal Dutch Shell and Texaco.

Mr. Burns holds a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University and an Executive M.B.A. from the University of Houston.

Throughout his career, Mr. Burns also participating in many Executive Learning programs such as the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Education Design Thinking Boot Camp:  From Insights to Innovation, Harvard Business School Executive Education:  Advanced Negotiators Program, Insead Executive Program: Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestments.

Tariq Chaudhary
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Chaudhary is the Chief Financial Officer of Petrolia Energy. He has over 25 years of experience in both the private and public sector, focusing on financial reporting, regulatory compliance, internal control and corporate finance activities. Mr. Chaudhary’s experience includes strategic planning, corporate governance, equity financing, due diligence for acquisitions and financial reporting for both Canadian and US based Public companies with international subsidiaries. He has extensive knowledge of capital budgets from conception to completion in upstream, downstream and Petrochemical industries for capital and sustaining projects. Before joining Petrolia, Mr. Chaudhary served as VP Finance at Blue Sky International, Controller at Auto House, Senior Cost Specialist with Canadian Natural Resources Ltd, Business/Administrative Manager at Syncrude Canada, a division of Exxon Mobil and Controller at Saba Petroleum Company (California).

Mr. Chaudhary holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting), and MBA (Finance) from California Coast University, California along with several other financial services certifications including Diploma in Oil & Gas accounting from the University of North Texas (Denton).
